Bianca shared what FGSF meant to her: “As a first-generation community college student, there were many moments when I felt out of place. I balanced school, work, and family responsibilities while silently carrying the fear that maybe I did not truly belong in these spaces. I remember walking into opportunities feeling intimidated, comparing myself to others, and wondering if everyone else was somehow more capable, more prepared, or simply more deserving than I was. At times, I felt like I had only been lucky enough to 'slip through the cracks.' But through the support of this community, I slowly began to see what others saw in me. Mentors like Jamil Momand reminded me of who I was and encouraged me to recognize my own potential. The committee believed in me before I fully believed in myself. They saw my resilience, my determination, and my heart. More importantly, they gave me something I did not realize I needed so deeply: community, confidence, and acceptance.”
